Had Moses been a Bosnian
Hey Moses, hold and hide your hand
Or should we call you Moshe
They would have called it into your ears
Hold and hide your hand
Don’t you dare, let nobody see your whiteness
Whatever happens, put the cane aside
Magicians are powerful
Don’t get on pharaoh’s nerves
Had Moses been a Bosnian
Mind your own business Moses
Or should we call you Moshe
Don’t touch the golden calf
They would have called it into your ears
That you heard those voices
On the top of that Mount Sinai
Keep your having seen the burning shrub secret
This is not the time for great truths at this moment
The power of nation matters these days
For the sake of building pyramid
To rush around the slaves…

Immediately afterwards, in their tribes
In their circles and loops
They used to pick a fight among themselves
Someone swearing on a holly book
They would have taken a vow that
That Voice called on their names
Others on the other hand,
Since no flame nor its echo reached
Their sublime higher-ups
They used to keep telling that
Both Voice and Flame were weak

They used to claim that
The genetics of lentil was modified
Quails were being exported
Complaining about wheat was told by third parties
That the tender of the pyramid
Was awarded to kith and kin
Which was under the order of the higher authorities
They used to claim it.

You know Moses, we are also aware of it
(Or should we call you Moshe)
They used to say that Pharaoh thought
He was a God
Dont instigate a fight, let it go
Why don’t you make johnny-on-the-spot speak
Talk about what you know
Reveal his secret to us
Moreover, take that boat aside
Silently, slowly,
Until it gets to the red sea

There would be many many Bosnians by your side
Not kneeling down, not surrendering in their prayers
Who would wait bowed for more forty years
It’s not time for empty words
Under the clouds which are expecting bullets

Amina Šiljak-Jesenković – Bosna Hersek

29 Kasım 1965 tarihinde Saraybosna’da dünyaya geldi. İlk tahsilinden doktoraya kadar eğitimini Saraybosna’da tamamladı.1990 yılı Mart ayından beri Saraybosna Üniversitesi Şarkiyat Enstitüsü’nde Türkolog olarak görevli. 70 kadar makale ve 4 bilimsel kitap yanında, edebiyat çevirilerini ve denemelerini farklı dergilerde ve kitaplarda yayınlamıştır.

Ulusun gücü önemli bu zamanlarda
Piramit inşa etmek uğruna

Aralarında kavga çıkarırlardı

O Ses’in kendi isimlerini
Çağırdığına yemin ederlerdi

Ne koru ne yankısı ulaştı
Ses’in de, Alev’in de zayıf olduğunu
Söyleyip dururlardı
Hep mercimeğin genetiğiyle oynanmışlığından
Bıldırcınların ihraç edildiğinden
Şikayet edip söylenenildiğinde
Piramit ihalesinin
Hısım akrabalarına verilmesinin
Yukarıdan emredildiğini
İddia ederlerdi.
